The German Shepherd Dog
is a popular breed, known for its intelligence, beauty, loyalty and nobility.
The German line German shepherd dog was breed to be a working breed of dog
- built for strength, agility, and their excellent temperament, trainability
and endurance, desire to work, strong bond to the handler, perseverance
and protective instinct and ease with which they can be taught to behave
well. Their name Shep - HERD came about because of their work as herding
dogs. other names of this breed are as follows: Alsatian; Berger Allemand;
Deutscher Schaferhund; German Shepherd dog; Schaferhund. German Shepherds
of either sex are wonderful dogs and will make wonderful pets. These characteristics
are what make German Shepherds the perfect choice for their work as Police
dogs.
A Police dog is trained specifically to work with the Police, Military and
other enforcement Agencies. German Shepherds have been successfully trained
in many different sports and activities due to their intelligence and endurance,
as well as the fact they are very adaptable to training. One such training
program is known as schutzland. Schutzland is a German word meaning "Protection
Dog". Schutzhund consists of three different parts. these are tracking,
obedience, and protection. the dog must pass each of these parts to earn
each title.
They are, without a doubt, one of the most wonderful breeds you could consider
getting. They are probably one of the most versatile dogs you can own. Once
they know a person, they have a friend for life. A German Shepherd, while
cute and cuddly as a puppy, will grow up to be a large dog. Depending on
its genetics, it can be anywhere from 70 to 120 pounds. This is a large
animal. They are generally between 55 and 65 centimeters (22 and 26) at
the withers and weigh between 22 and 40 Kilograms (49 and 88 lb). The ideal
height is 63 centimeters (25 in), according to Kennel Club Standards.
German Shepherd, if raised with children, make an excellent playmate as
well as watchdog for them. German Shepherd, it is imperative that they are
given plenty of exercise on a daily basis. this is a dog that is full of
energy. Remember that originally they were bred as working dogs, so they
expect to be doing something other than just laying around. Being a German
Shepherd owner involves many responsibilities such as annual vaccination,
veterinarian checkups, and routine maintenance and grooming. |
